How to use the Nikko World Heritage Pass?

Delivery and Exchange

Your Nikko World Heritage 2-day Pass (e-ticket, no need for exchange) will be sent to you via email within 5 working days of booking. If you place your order more than one month prior to the activation date, you can expect to receive your electronic ticket approximately 28 days before the start date of use.

• Please check your junk mail folder in case your voucher ends up there.
• If you require the e-ticket in less than standard 5 working days, please contact us.

IMPORTANT: This e-ticket is valid for one month from the date of issue. Please provide the correct start date when ordering, and be sure to check the expiration date on the e-ticket link.

How to use your Nikko World Heritage Pass?

1. To use this pass, tap the button in the link we send you to verify and validate your e-ticket.

2. For train travel, present your e-ticket display at the station desk.

3. For bus travel, show the e-ticket to the bus driver.

Validity

The Nikko World Heritage Pass is valid for 2 days and allows access to a number of destinations throughout the area using trains and buses operated by Tobu. From Asakusa Station and SkyTree Station in Tokyo, the train out to Nikko can be taken as well.

Cancellation Policy

• Cancellation is possible if we are contacted at least 5 days before the voucher expiration date
• A 15% cancellation fee will be withheld from your refund
• If cancellation is requested less than 5 days before the voucher expiration date, NO cancellation or refund is possible.

Eligibility

Visitors traveling as tourists who have a temporary visitor entry status are eligible for this pass. Japanese passport holders are not eligible for this pass.

Where to visit in Nikko

Nikko as a destination is somewhere that can only really be experienced in Japan. The country's long-standing history can be witnessed firsthand, and then afterwards, a luxurious experience at a ryokan with traditional Japanese food and warm, rich onsen hot springs to relax in. 

Historic Sites

There are a number of notable temples and shrines throughout the Nikko area that are worth visiting, but three of the most acclaimed and storied are those of the two Shinto shrines named Futarasan Shrine and Toshogu Shrine, along with the Buddhist temple Rinno-ji. These three are located in the same area that is collectively designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The entire grounds are made up of 103 different buildings, and the scenic nature that engrosses the site are also included within the World Heritage Site title. Toshogu Shrine in particular is a beloved location that was originally set up as a memorial to Tokugawa Ieyasu. It is adorned throughout with ornate decorations and home to many historical treasures. 

Kinugawa Onsen

Kinugawa Onsen is likely the most popular and famous onsen hot spring town in Tochigi. The town has a picturesque river at its center and has amazing nature all around as well as distinct architecture throughout, including traditional-style Japanese buildings and homes and the famous Tobu World Square amusement park. There are reproductions of world-famous landmarks, such as the Eiffel Tower and Sphynx.  A stay at a ryokan at the center of the town is a must, with high-end dining and accommodation being a signature part of the onsen town experience.
