Pola Kunstmuseum ポーラ美術館

In einer für Museen ungewöhnlichen Lage, befindet sich das Pola Kunstmuseum im Herzen eines dichten Waldes bei Hakone. Man wollte im Einklang mit der Natur ein Zentrum der Kunst und Harmonie schaffen. Es wurde alles dafür getan die Umwelt zu schonen und die natürliche Ästhetik mit der Kunst zu verbinden.

Das Gebäude selbst, obwohl es im Keller errichtet worden ist um sich besser in die Landschaft zu integrieren, ist durch seine zahlreichen Fenster dennoch mit Licht überflutet. Die Galerien bieten Werke europäischer Meister, sowie japanische und orientalische Kunst. Nichts wurde hier dem Zufall überlassen und die Beleuchtungsanlagen sorgen für eine optimale Bildqualität angepasst an die Bedürfnisse der alten Werke.

Im Jahre 2002 eröffnet, präsentiert das Museum die von der Stiftung Pola erstellten Kunstsammlungen, benannt nach der gleichnamigen Gruppe aus der Kosmetik und Immobilienbranche, die die Förderung der Kunst und Kultur Japans zum Ziel hat.

9500 Raritäten

Ohne zeitliche Einschränkung bietet das Pola Kunstmuseum mit seiner Sammlung von tausenden von Werken auch etwa 400 Werke von bekannten europäischen Künstlern. Darunter das "Mädchen mit Schnürhut" von Pierre Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) oder "Eine Figur unter vielen" von Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944), während die Werke japanischer Künstler sich neben deren jeweiligen Inspirationen befinden.

Es werden regelmäßigen Ausstellungen organisiert um ein bestimmtes Thema zu präsentieren oder die europäische und japanischen Kunst in einem Vergleich darszustellen. Ob man nun die weniger bekannten Werke der großen Künstler betrachtet, oder einfach die japanischen Kunst genießt, das Pola Kunstmuseum bietet immer einen angenehmen Aufenthalt. Am Ende der Besichtigung kann man sich an die Bar in der großen Halle setzen und sich dem ästhetischen Herzstück des Museums widmen. Der schönen und wilden Landschaft von Hakone, die man durch die Glasfassade eindrucksvoll betrachten kann.

A collection of 9500 rare pearls to discover

The collection of the Pola Art Museum is varied and of high quality, bringing together thousands of pieces, offering visitors a fascinating insight into Japanese and Western art through the centuries. 

With around 400 works, the museum has a large collection of paintings by famous European artists such as Renoir, Monet, Cézanne, Van Gogh, Pollock, Matisse and Picasso. The Girl with a Lace-up Hat by Pierre Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) stands next to a figure by Vassily Kandinsky (1866-1944), while paintings by Japanese artists take their place alongside those of their inspirers, such as Hokusai, Hiroshige and Utamaro. In addition to paintings and prints, the museum is also rich in period ceramics (Jomôn, Edô, medieval and modern) and sculpture, with works by Rodin and Bourdelle on display.

Regular exhibitions are organised to focus on a particular theme or artist, but also to play on the interplay of European and Japanese views. Temporary or permanent, these exhibitions are very popular with the public and have contributed to the museum's reputation as one of the most important in Japan for Western and Japanese art.
