The price of the renting depends on the duration. You can rent your pocket WiFi from 5 days up to up to one month and a half (45 days). There is a flat increase of price per day, meaning that the difference of price between 5 and 10 days is the same as the difference between 10 and 15 days.

Your can order your pocket directly from this page and select whether you want your Pocket WiFi to be delivered at your airport of arrival or at your hotel. After placing your order, you will receive an email of confirmation explaining the next steps to follow, and where you will be able to claim your pocket WiFi on the selected date. When your rental period ends, you must return your pocket wifi before the end of your stay in Japan. You can drop it off in any post box across Japan using the shipping envelope that comes with your rental.

The Pocket Wifi is cancellable and refundable up to one week before the start of rental. Past this date, the Pocket Wifi is no longer refundable. There is a 15% cancellation fee.

Depending on your usage and the service you desire, other options are available for you to access Internet. A good alternative is to order a SIM card or an eSIM for Japan. You can insert this SIM in your phone or other mobile device and have access to the Internet just as you would have in your own country. Alternatively, you can also buy an eSIM card (check your phone for compatibility), so there is no need to insert a physical card.

There are also numerous free wifi spots throughout Japan. However, we do not recommend this method. It will require you to spent time often to navigate the sign in procedure. Also, in large open spaces like train stations or between large buildings, the coverage in your area might be very spotty, slow or inconsistent.

Each method has its own advantage, depending on the number of people in your group, and the time you will stay in, your usage and your needs in terms of data.

• How fast is it? Which network does it use?

The Wi-Fi speed is 150 mbps download/ 25 mbps upload. The device uses a 4G/LTE network with the Japanese provider Docomo.

• To what kinds of devices can I connect? How many can connect at one time?

The pocket Wi-Fi supports any kind of device: iPhone, iPad, Android smartphones, PC and Mac laptops, cameras, and other handheld devices. You can connect up to 5 devices at a time with this service.

• Up to what distance does the pocket Wi-Fi work?

Your device will remain connected up to 20 meters (65 feet) from the device.

• What is the battery life? How long does it take to charge?

The battery lasts 8~10 hours while connected to 4G. The battery takes about 3 hours to fully charge.

• Can I choose how long I rent my pocket wifi?

You can rent a pocket wifi device for any number of days between the minimum of 5 days and maximum of 45 days, so that the rental suits your plans while traveling in Japan.

• Is the device easy to carry?

Yes the device is slightly larger than a deck of cards and weighs 140 grams (5 ounces).

• Where do I return my pocket wifi?

You must return your pocket wifi before the end of your stay in Japan or you will get a penalty fee. You can drop it off in any post box across Japan using the shipping envelope that comes with your rental.

• What to do if I lost the prepaid envelope?

Go to the post office or a convenience store, and buy a envelope called "Letter Pack Light" (370JPY).

Choosing airport delivery allows you to benefit from a Wi-Fi connection on your way to the hotel. However, delivery to the hotel is safer as the reception receives your Pocket Wifi before your arrival and gives it to you directly at check-in. If you are staying in a house or an Airbnb, we advise you to choose airport delivery instead.
