Mashiro and Takagi, two high school students passionate about manga, embarked on a crazy adventure to become mangaka. One is a cartoonist, the other a scriptwriter, they both discovered the pace of publication, the dependence on the popularity of a story or a readers' votes, competition... With touches of comedy and romance thanks to a well executed parallel love story, Bakuman plunges us into a realistic and exciting day-to-day life. By assembling different levels of fiction, the story of two young people, the manga plot they create, Tsugumi Oba and Takeshi Obata, famous creators of the equally legendary Death Note, have successfully created a manga mise en abyme about manga.
