The change of season is always a good time to discover new products in Japan and spring is no exception. Known for offering beautiful landscapes, Japanese spring also has some great culinary surprises in store! For drinks, dessert buffets, cakes, and even udon, in March the whole menu is colored with the effigy of the favorite flower of the Japanese: the sakura!

 

 

 

Pink udon. It may come as a surprise, and yet these colorful pastes are all the rage on the archipelago when the fine weather returns. They can be found both in udonya (restaurants specializing in udon ) and on-street stalls in large cities, and their color attracts the eyes of the young and old alike.

However, beware of disappointment if you were planning to eat cherry udon, this pasta is (un)fortunately only the color.
