Hospitality with harmony and beauty
The train "Hanayome Noren" is a sightsseing train connecting Kanazawa station on the Hokuriku shinkansen and Wakura Onsen station along the Nanao line.
"The name “Hanayome Noren,” which literally means “bride curtain,” comes from an old custom of the former Kaga Clan based in Kaga, Noto and Ecchu in which families, upon giving away the bride during weddings, would hand the bride a vividly-colorful “noren,” or curtain, as an expression of their wishes for the happiness of the daughter they so lovingly raised" explains the JR Toretabi train website.
With this train, you will discover the heart of the Noto Peninsula. Wakura Onsen is one of the best onsen countries adjoining the Sea of Japan, facing the splendid bay of Nanao. Legend says that the spa village would have opened 1,200 years ago, when a fisherman found a wounded white heron in the ocean, washing his wounds by which white smoke escaped from. The latter would have given the onsen its virtues.
The Hanayome Noren has 2 cars which are exclusively available through reservation in advance and has only a few ride per week : friday, saturday and sunday. You can also reserve in advance a bento prepared with local dishes from Ishikawa Prefecture.
