Discoveries await on Japan's southern main island!
The third-largest of Japan's major islands, Kyushu is renowned for its alluring fusion of historical significance, natural beauty, and a thriving culture. Situated in the country's southwest, it is both a hub for contemporary innovation and a gateway to Japan's historical past.
Known as the "Land of Fire" due to its volcanic activity, Kyushu is home to stunning scenery, such as the majestic hot spring towns of Beppu and Yufuin and the venerable Mount Aso, one of the largest active volcano calderas in the world. The island's robust agricultural and tea production are further supported by its abundance of verdant forests, tranquil coasts, and fertile plains.
The history and culture of Japan are deep-rooted in Kyushu. Cities like Kumamoto, which is home to the famous Kumamoto Castle, and Nagasaki, which has a long history as a port for international trade, provide insights into the history of the country. The main city on the island, Fukuoka, is well-known for its innovative urban planning, vibrant marketplaces, and delicious Hakata ramen.
The local customs, celebrations, and regional specialties—from Kyushu's renowned wagyu beef to Karatsu pottery—all contribute to the island's distinct character. Visitors looking for adventure and relaxation are drawn to Kyushu because of its pleasant environment and welcoming locals.
