- Camping in Nokonoshima
Easily accessible from Fukuoka and Tenjin by boat, Nokonoshima Island is ideal for an out-of-town excursion . Many fields of flowers where different varieties grow, bloom throughout the year. In August, don't miss the sunflowers! An on-site campsite allows you to rent a tent and all the necessary equipment, as well as barbecue grills. For sports enthusiasts, water activities are organized at Bayside beach, in the northeast of the island. Nokonoshima can be visited by car, bus and bicycle.
Access: from Hakata station, take the Kuko line (airport) and get off at Meinohama station. Take the Nishitetsu Bus at the Meinohama-eki kitaguchi stop to Noko tosenba (ferry terminal) (35 min).
Celebrated from 1 to July 15 in Fukuoka, the festivities center around the Shrine Kushida-jinja. This festival is popular because of its chariot races weighing almost a ton. There are two categories of Yamakasa floats: decorative floats , kazariyama , and floats that are transported during the festival , kakiyama . The decorative tanks are installed on street corners on July 1. They are 10 meters high and are decorated with samurai dolls or cartoon characters, made by craftsmen of Hakata dolls . Some floats, exhibited within the Kushida-jinja sanctuary, are visible all year round. The other tanks, kakiyama , are transported by groups of porters from July 10 to 15 through the streets of the city. A competition takes place over 5 kilometers: who will be the fastest?

- Nishinihon Fireworks Festival at Ohori Park
Every summer, thousands of people gather at Ohori Park to watch the Nishinihon fireworks. More than 6,000 rockets are launched into the sky on this occasion, and the park is full of food and game stands . Put on your best yukata or jinbei for the occasion, and come early to be sure you have good visibility!

- Momochi seaside park
In the Hakata Bay district, futuristic-looking buildings have their feet in the water. In addition to the long man-made beaches , the site has many tourist spots, such as the Fukuoka Tower , the Municipal Museum, the Fukuoka Dome baseball stadium and the Hawks Town shopping complex.
Access: 15 min by bus from Tenjin station; 25 min from Hakata station
- Uminonakamichi seaside park
Opposite the Momochi seaside park is the Uminonakamichi seaside park. This park is ideal for family outings . Over four kilometers you will find: a camping area, a zoo , the Wonder World amusement park, an aquarium and the largest water park in western Japan , the Sunshine pool! It is even possible to cycle or get on a small train.
Access: from the Tenjin central post office-mae stop, take the nishitets bus to the Marineworld uminonakamichi stop (30-60 min, depending on the bus route); from Hakata wharf bayside or Momochi (Marizon) take the Yasuda sangyo kisen ferry line to Uminonakamichi ferry port (20 min).
