The Maritime Museum 神戸海洋博物館
Two museums in one
Hard to miss with its architecture reminiscent of a fishing net. Located in the Meriken Park, Kobe Maritime Museum is dedicated to the Japanese Navy ... but also a native of the city business Kawasaki.
On the jetty of Meriken Park is three boats: a Spanish boat and two experimental ships. As guards, he announced the entrance of the Maritime Museum.
Naval history ...
Opened in 1987 to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the opening of Kobe , ships have also invaded the museum. Miniature ship, sailboat, reconstitution of the cockpit, the kingdom of the sea is in the spotlight.
Initially, the museum describes the evolution of maritime transport. Unfortunately, the explanations are not always in English, which may affect the tour. However, the second part, devoted the history of the port, is fully translated. A great way for larger and smaller to learn more about Japan and Kobe.
And mechanical ...
Did you know that the company Kawasaki was from Kobe? Not surprising then to find a museum dedicated to the brand in the city: the Kawasaki Good Time World . Taking half of the Maritime Museum, this exhibition presents the manufacturer throughout the range of production. Motorcycles, robots, helicopters, subways, and also a simulator shinkansen size ... all for the love of cars.
