United Red Army 実録・連合赤軍 あさま山荘への道程
United Red Army (2008)
A provocative and libertarian Filmmaker, Kôji Wakamatsu (1936-2012), known for his erotic films (pink eiga), in this work films the bloody extreme of members of the Japanese United Red Army, who in 1972 took hostage an innkeeper near Nagano . A former comrade of the far-left movements, the filmmaker plunges his camera into the depths of protest movements of a rebellious youth, which gradually became radicalized and finally self-destructed, in the first place by the savage execution of activists considered to be unreliable. Worthy of a Greek or Shakespearean tragedy, this educational river film plays on dialectics, which today are historical. A lesson in cinema based on a dramatic fact, the very expression of 1970s radicalization.
