Keihin-Tohoku Line: Connecting Tokyo, Yokohama and key destinations

The Keihin-Tohoku Line is a busy 59.1km railway line crossing through Tokyo, connecting Saitama, central Tokyo and Yokohama. In operation since 1914, it carries over 3 million passengers daily. The line runs parallel to the Yamanote line in central Tokyo between Shinagawa and Tabata, and continues south of Yokohama to Ofuna on the Negishi Line. Its iconic sky blue livery makes it easy to recognize.
Train services and schedule on the Keihin-Tohoku Line
The Keihin-Tohoku Line offers both local (stops at every station) and rapid services (stops only at major stations). Trains run every 2-3 minutes during morning and evening rush hours, every 5 minutes during the day and less frequently at night. First trains start around 5:30 am, with last trains between 11 pm and 1 am.
Using the Japan Rail Pass on the Keihin-Tohoku Line
The JR Rail Pass fully covers the Keihin-Tohoku Line as it's operated by JR East. Simply show your pass when entering and exiting the station. There are no seat reservations required, so you can take any train.
