Japan is famous for its Shinkansen high-speed trains, which combine performance, comfort and exceptional design. In 2025, an unprecedented collaboration between Tokyo Disney Resort and JR Central Railways will give birth to the Wonderful Dreams Shinkansen, a high-speed train in Disney colors that promises to enchant passengers on the Tokaido Shinkansen line.
A Shinkansen inspired by Fantasy Springs
The Wonderful Dreams Shinkansen is designed to celebrate the opening of Fantasy Springs, Tokyo DisneySea's new immersive zone, scheduled for June 2024. This new themed area features magical worlds inspired by iconic films such as The Snow Queen, Rapunzel and Peter Pan.
Aboard the train, passengers will be immersed in a fairytale world thanks to special illustrations, Disney movie-inspired motifs and decorative details carefully integrated to recreate the Fantasy Springs atmosphere. Iconic music will also accompany the rides, making the experience even more immersive.
A route between Tokyo and Osaka
This Shinkansen will run on the famous Tokaido Shinkansen line, linking Tokyo to Shin-Osaka, from February 21, 2025. Trips aboard this special train will be scheduled until mid-September 2025, with round trips available mainly on weekends and public holidays.
This is the first time in 60 years that a train on the Tokaido line has featured a special decoration, making it a particularly eagerly-awaited event for Disney fans and train enthusiasts alike.
How to book your ticket
Given the expected popularity of the Wonderful Dreams Shinkansen, we strongly recommend that you book your tickets in advance. Reservations will be accessible via JR Central's usual channels, and some travel agencies will be offering special packages combining a ride on the train with entrance tickets to Tokyo Disney Resort.

Hikari 636: Departure from Shin-Osaka at 6:42 a.m., arrival in Tokyo at 9:42 a.m.
Kodama 715: Departs Tokyo at 9:57 a.m., arrives in Shin-Osaka at 1:51 p.m.
Kodama 736: Departs Shin-Osaka at 2:54pm, arrives in Tokyo at 6:48pm.
Hikari 659: departs Tokyo at 7:03pm, arrives in Shin-Osaka at 10:03pm.
Magical Journey Shinkansen
Prior to the Wonderful Dreams Shinkansen, JR Central had already collaborated with Disney to launch the Magical Journey Shinkansen. This special train, launched in 2023 in Tohoku and Hokkaido to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Tokyo Disney Resort, featured a festive design with Mickey and friends.
The project was a huge success, attracting both Disney fans and Shinkansen enthusiasts. The Wonderful Dreams Shinkansen follows on from this initiative, offering a new, even more immersive experience in line with Tokyo DisneySea's expansion.
