The Twilight Express Mizukaze is one of the most exclusive experiences in Japan, and bookings should be made well in advance, as only around 30 places are available onboard. The train departs from and returns to Kyoto Station in the ancient Japanese capital, stopping on the way at Okayama Station, Matsue Station and Tottori Station for magnificent day excursions along the San'yo/San'in line. On this route taking place between March 3rd and March 5th 2025, you'll get to experience Japan's blooming landscapes right outside your window!

What to see on board the Twilight Express Mizukaze

On this three-day itinerary aboard one of Japan's most exclusive high quality trains, the prettiest sights of West Japan will be yours to admire. 

Day 1: 

From Kyoto, start by taking in the gorgeous landscapes of the Seto inland sea and its dozens of islands stretching on the horizon from the coast. During a stop in Okayama, explore the city's renowned Korakuen Garden, one of Japan's 3 Great Gardens, before boarding the Mizukaze again for your first dinner, with a menu crafted by talented top-class Japanese chefs, cooked with locally-sourced ingredients. 

Day 2: 

The following day, after a restful night in your comfortable and elegant private room, stop in Unnan and Matsue for the day, two cities around Lake Shinji, blessed with breathtaking natural landscapes and interesting sights, such as Matsue Castle.

Day 3: 

On your last day onboard this magical train, the Mizukaze will stop at Tottori and Higashihama, two jewels on Japan's western coast. Enjoy a delicious breakfast in Higashihama, with its natural highlights, recognized and protected by the UNESCO, as a decor, then marvel at the unique sand dune formations in Tottori.

Along the way, scenic panoramas will be visible from your window, where the Twilight Express Mizukaze will slow down for you to fully appreciate the wonders in front of you. Such sights include the Setonaikai National Park, the Sea of Japan's Orii Coast, Lake Shinji, Mount Daisen and the Amarube Viaduct. 

You will also get to enjoy Kyoto's many UNESCO World Heritage sites, historic highlights and stunning natural landscapes as you will spend at least one night in the ancient Japanese capital before departing, and one night upon returning.

• To confirm your reservation for this experience, a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total price is required. The remaining balance must be paid in full no later than one and a half months prior to the departure date. Please be advised that any payments made after this deadline are also non-refundable.
