Tokyo Metro Game: The Underground Mysteries
Become the Sherlock Holmes of the Tokyo subway!
Here's a unique way to explore the Japanese capital! The Tokyo Metro Game will unravel the mysteries of Tokyo's basements, the exciting escape game organized every year by the Tokyo metro!
An escape game in the basements of Tokyo
Created in 2014 in cooperation with SCARP Game ( the biggest escape game company in Japan ), Tokyo MetroGame is a fun way to exercise your brain!
By surveying the different districts served by the metro lines, you must solve puzzles to try to unlock the secrets of Tokyo's basements. An ambitious challenge that attracts more than 190,000 people of all nationalities each winter, and which allows Tokyo Metro to energize its lines by introducing players to stations they are not familiar with...
Because that is the originality of the game: to discover less touristic and more human aspects of the city, by transforming the capital into a life-size maze of an escape room!
A kit in Japanese and English
To solve the puzzles of the Tokyo subway, you will only need one thing: the game kit (note: logic is not required here, even if it helps a lot it must be admitted)!
Available in Japanese and English, the kit consists of several items that are essential for the smooth running of the game: a guide with instructions and puzzles to solve, maps, drawings, and various documents useful in solving the plots, and a 24-hour PASS to be able to travel around leisure on all metro lines in the capital.
Stations and lots of puzzles!
The game begins when you acquire the kit. You must then solve a first riddle (usually a crossword puzzle) to find the name of the next station where you will go, and follow the instructions in the paper guide to progress in the game.
Note that the puzzles are very diverse (counting the number of swings in a playground to obtain the first digit of a code, classifying objects by order of appearance following a complex route, completing a puzzle, etc.) and that you must pass the current puzzle before moving on to the next puzzle.
Indeed, each puzzle is determined by the success of the previous one. The game thus takes place in 3 stages (each of them being played on a very specific metro line), and the resolution of the last enigma of a stage is decisive to be able to find the name of the station where the next stage will begin.
What to do then Zion is stuck? Above all, don't panic because there is always a solution! A QRcode is even present on each page of the guide to bring you back to the game's official site in the event of a problem and provide you with additional clues to solve stubborn puzzles.
The game only lasts an average of four hours. Will you then be able to unravel the mysteries of the metro in one afternoon?
