National Museum of Fine Arts 国立国際美術館
The art is meant around Osaka
Both in substance and in form. What better example than the National Museum. Expansive architecture that seems free from technical constraints and the beauty of the collections satisfy visitors.
A cathedral of glass and steel, the National Art Museum of Osaka stands in the middle of Nakanoshima Island. Considered the fourth museum of the country, it has more than six thousand works: engravings, sculptures, paintings and photographs ...
The contemporary building calls for contemplation. Created by the architect César Pelli, of Argentinian origin, who assembles metal beams and glass plates. The ensemble forms a structure submerged in the soil. But what you see is only the tip of the iceberg.
Most of the museum lies underground. The glass roof is only the entrance. In the underground galleries, your will see traditional Japanese works as well as more famous paintings. Like the paintings by Paul Cézanne and Pablo Picasso and a series of photographs of the Water Lilies by Claude Monet. Once the visit is over, if you are still thirsty for knowledge, you can visit the nearby science museum.
